Point on flowers HHC

Did you hear about HHC (hexahydrocannabinol)? It is a THC-like molecule (tetrahydrocannabinol) and it also causes detonating effects in the user. Lab Shop tells you a little more about this mysterious molecule.

HHC: A little history

Unlike THC, HHC is not found in the trichomes of the hemp female plant, but in the seeds and pollen of male plants. On the other hand, it is present in such a small quantity in nature that it is best to synthesize it. This is what American scientist Roger Adam did in 1947 by synthesizing HHC from a synthetic THC molecule. It is almost 20 years before the work of Raphael Mechoulam, to whom the isolation of CBD and THC molecules is attributed. Why are we only interested in HHC now? Mystery and hemp ball!

What is a HHC flower?

The hHC flowers are synthetic HHC impregnated CBD flowers. Their taste is that of the original flower, but their effects are stronger, more surprising. There is still a gap in the effects of HHC, which is why it is important to be careful about its consumption. The HHC synthesization process is well documented. HHC is a neo-cannabinoid, in opposition to phytocannabinoids (from plant extracts) and endocannabinoids (synthesized by our body). Like Roger Adam in the 1940s, scientists today synthesize HHC by hydrogenation: they place a cannabis extract concentrated in THC in a pressurized container with hydrogen. Hydrogen will break the carbon bonds of THC to obtain a hydrogenated version, HHC.

What are the effects of HHC flowers?

As we have just mentioned, the HHC is an even poorly known molecule, despite its discovery more than 70 years ago. In North America, consumers tested HHC flowers, but again, testimonies are very contradictory. Some consumers say HHC flowers are less powerful than conventional THC cannabis (about 70% of the average power). Others argue that the effects are perfectly comparable. Finally, some consumers find in HHC's flowers the effects quite similar to morphine, especially a fairly pleasant feeling of floating. What is known, however, is that after hydrogenation, HHC is available in 2 versions, HHC 9R and HHC 9S. While HHC 9R is very easily linked to CB1 receptors in our endocannabinoid system, this is not the case, however, of HHC 9S. Why? We don't know yet. What is important, however, is that it is not only the overall quantity of HHC in the product that matters, but the ratio between HHC 9R and 9S. Specifically, HHC operates on the same CB1 and CB2 receptors as THC. We can therefore expect the same effects:

  1. Visual, auditory, nervous hallucinations;
  2. A modified mood: relaxation for certain, irritation for others, paranoia sometimes;
  3. A perception of the changed time.

HHC Flower: What do you have?

Because of their still unknown effects, we do not advise our customers to try HHC flowers. The cBD flowers offer soothing benefits much more mastered, without secondary effect. If you want to test the effects of HHC flower, start with very modest dosages, to check the effects on you. Be careful not to make excess or to take the wheel after eating it! The effects of HHC must certainly vary according to the consumer. It is therefore necessary to exercise utmost caution when you initiate it.

Are HHC flowers legal?

The sale and consumption of HHC flowers has been illegal since June 2023.
